An evening of science and stewardship Thursday, April 23rd, 2026
5:30 - 8 pm Join world-renowned scientist Dr. Dominick DellaSala and regional conservation leaders to talk about the value and the future of the Blue Mountains.
From the forest to the sea, from the soil to the sky, every fiber of the living world is intimately intertwined. To understand one part, we need the whole picture. "There is nothing not tied to the flow."
The Confluence Series is a public event series rooted in Walla Walla, where shifting human landscapes meet complex living systems. The path to a flourishing future lies at the confluence of new science, ancient wisdom, our care for one another, and a deep-rooted love of the land.
Through community conversations, film screenings, presentations, stories, workshops and excursions, we explore the interconnection of watershed resilience, land stewardship, Indigenous lifeways, responsible forestry, wildfire management, soil health, agricultural sustainability, climate adaptivity and cultural growth.
Convene with community members, knowledge keepers, land stewards, leaders, teachers, scientists, farmers, elders and non-human kin to deepen our shared understanding and cultivate a collaborative vision for a just future, where water, land and people mutually thrive. This is how we navigate these deep Currents of Change: together.
The Confluence Series is committed to maintaining free and open access to every event, both in person and online. It is entirely volunteer-run, and this is only possible with support. All donations go directly to speakers and venues.
A high tide raises all ships. This place and these people are unique, but the challenges and changes we face carry deep relevance far beyond any one watershed. What we do here together matters.
That's why the Confluence Series is produced in partnership with Fallow Media, to document every event and share it freely with the world, creating videos, podcasts, hybrid events and educational content from the many currents that flow together here.
Connect with us digitally and follow along as we build a platform to help foster a global conversation.
The Confluence Series is rooted in conversations with many different organizations who share the common goal of education and environmental stewardship. These are some of the groups that form our broader network, who have worked with us on past or future events or offered guidance and support to shape this vision:
The Series features a plurality of perspectives, including Indigenous land stewards, scientists, farmers, artists, activists and visionaries. Their stories and wisdom offer insight into caring for place, responding to change, and healing landscapes and communities.
This is a fundammentally collaborative endeavor. You are very much invited to help steward the vision and bring all the voices to Confluence!

Nestled between the noble Blue Mountains and the vast Palouse hills in southeastern Washington, on the ancestral lands of the Cayuse, Umatilla, Walla Walla and Nez Perce Tribes, Walla Walla is a fertile oasis and a diverse community, with deep roots and a long history of nonpartisan collaboration over the stewardship of our water and our land.
Between three colleges, hundreds of wineries, world-class arts and event venues and countless community-oriented groups and organizations, there are lots of notable stakeholders in the conversation at this singular confluence of People and Place.
